Vietnam E-Visa - Multiple Entry (90 days)
Contents
The multiple-entry e-visa covers the same 90 days as the single-entry one, but you can leave Vietnam and return as many times as you want while it is valid. It is the one to choose for a loop through Cambodia or Laos, a cruise that calls at Vietnamese ports on different days, or any plan that might change. The government charges double the single-entry fee for it, which is the whole of the price difference.
| Maximum stay | Up to 90 days |

Step by step guide
1Before you applyCheck your passport and fix your dates
Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months after the day you arrive. Decide the date you will enter Vietnam and the airport, land border or seaport you will arrive at - the visa's start and end dates are fixed from that date and cannot be moved later.
If you will leave Vietnam and come back, you need a multiple-entry visa. Single or multiple entry?
2Gather your documents4 things to have ready
- Passport valid for at least 6 months after the day you arrive
- A clear photo or scan of your passport's photo page
- A recent passport-style photo: white background, no glasses
- Your arrival date, entry port and first address in Vietnam
That is all we need from you. Photo and passport scan rules

What is the multiple-entry e-visa?
The multiple-entry e-visa is the same electronic visa as the single-entry one, with one difference that matters: you can leave Vietnam and come back as often as you like while it is valid. It runs for up to 90 days, is issued online to citizens of every country, and arrives by email as a PDF.
Vietnam introduced it on 15 August 2023, at the same time as it extended e-visas from 30 days to 90.
When you need multiple entry
Choose it whenever your route crosses a Vietnamese border more than once:
- Vietnam, then Cambodia or Laos, then Vietnam again. The classic loop - Ho Chi Minh City to Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, then back for Hanoi and Ha Long Bay.
- A cruise that calls at Vietnamese ports on different days, with a foreign port in between.
- Flying home from Vietnam after a side trip. Many return flights leave from Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi, so a few days in Bangkok or Singapore mid-trip means re-entering.
- Plans that are not fixed yet. If you might add a border crossing, multiple entry removes the risk.
A single-entry visa is finished the moment you exit Vietnam, even if 80 of its 90 days are unused. Getting back in then means a new application and a new fee, usually from a hotel room in another country.
What it does not do
- It does not restart the clock. The e-visa has a fixed start date and end date. Leaving and re-entering does not add days.
- It does not allow work. Like every e-visa it covers tourism, family visits and short business trips - not employment.
- It cannot be converted from a single-entry visa. If you already hold a single-entry e-visa and your plans change, you need a new multiple-entry one.
Requirements
The same as for a single-entry e-visa:
- A passport valid for at least six months after you arrive
- A clear scan of the passport photo page, including the two code lines at the bottom
- A recent portrait photo on a white background, without glasses
- Your first entry date, the port you will first arrive at, and your first address in Vietnam
You give one entry port on the application - the one you will use first. The visa is then accepted at any of the 83 eligible airports, land borders and seaports for later entries.
What it costs
The Vietnamese government charges US$50 for a multiple-entry e-visa, double the US$25 single-entry fee. That difference is the whole of the gap between our two prices; our service is the same for both. The current price, in your own currency, is shown on this page.
If you are certain you will enter once and leave once, the single-entry e-visa saves you the difference.
Crossing land borders
The multiple-entry e-visa works at the main land crossings as well as the airports:
- From Cambodia: Moc Bai (the Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh City bus route), Tinh Bien, Ha Tien and the Mekong river crossing at Song Tien
- From Laos: Lao Bao, Cau Treo, Nam Can, Tay Trang and others
- From China: Huu Nghi, Lao Cai and Mong Cai
Carry a printed copy at land borders. Officers there are less likely to accept a phone screen, and mobile signal at remote crossings is unreliable.
Remember that the neighbouring country has its own entry rules. Cambodia and Laos both require a visa from most nationalities - check those before you set off.
Processing time
The same as the single-entry e-visa: three working days at the immigration department by its own estimate, often five to seven in busy periods, with no processing at weekends or on Vietnamese public holidays. Express and Urgent options are offered when you apply.
Apply once your first entry date is firm. The 90 days are counted from that date.
