Free Vietnam Visa Photo Tool

The portrait photo is the most common reason a Vietnam e-visa application is sent back. Crop yours to the required shape, check the background, and save a file the portal accepts - free, and without uploading your photo anywhere.

Choose a photo to start

Your photo stays on your device. It is never uploaded to us or anyone else.

How to take a photo that passes

  1. Stand in front of a plain white wall, an arm's length away, facing a window so the light falls evenly on your face.
  2. Ask someone else to take it at eye level from about a metre and a half. Selfies distort the face.
  3. Take off your glasses and any hat, look straight at the camera, mouth closed.
  4. Load it into the tool above, position your face in the oval and save it.

What the Vietnam e-visa photo must look like

  • A recent photo, taken in the last six months - not a copy of the one in your passport
  • Plain white background with no shadows, patterns or objects
  • Face forward, whole face visible, neutral expression
  • No glasses; no hat or head covering unless worn for religious reasons
  • Head and shoulders, in 4 x 6 cm proportions
  • A colour JPEG, in focus, under 2 MB

The second image the application needs is a scan of your passport's photo page, with both code lines at the bottom sharp and free of glare. Full photo and passport scan rules.

What the tool can and can't check

It checks the shape, the file and the background, and warns you if the original is too small to stay sharp. It can't judge glasses, expression or shadows on your face - look at the saved photo yourself before you use it. When you apply with us, a person checks the photo and your passport scan before anything is lodged, and asks you for a new one on WhatsApp if it won't pass.

Frequently asked questions

1. Is the Vietnam visa photo tool free?
Yes. It is free for anyone, with no account, and you don't have to apply with us to use it.
2. Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The tool works entirely in your browser. Your photo never leaves your device until you choose to upload it to your visa application.
3. What size is a Vietnam e-visa photo?
A passport-style portrait in 4 x 6 cm proportions, as a colour JPEG under 2 MB. The tool saves it at 600 x 900 pixels, which is that shape at a resolution the portal accepts.
4. Does the tool check that my photo will be accepted?
It checks the shape, the file size and that the background is plain white. It can't see glasses, expression or shadows on your face, so check those yourself. If you apply with us, a person checks the photo before anything is lodged.
5. Can I take the photo on my phone?
Yes. Stand an arm's length in front of a white wall, facing a window, and have someone else take the photo at eye level. Avoid selfies - the lens distorts the face.
6. Can I use this photo for the official evisa.gov.vn portal?
Yes. The saved photo meets the same requirements whether you apply yourself on the official portal or through us.
