Frequently asked questions

Do I need a visa for Vietnam?
Most travellers do. Citizens of 39 countries can enter without a visa for between 14 and 90 days - 45 days for British, German, French, Japanese and South Korean passports, 30 days for most of South-East Asia. Everyone else, including Australians, Americans, Canadians, New Zealanders and Indians, needs a visa before they travel. The e-visa is the simplest: it is issued online to every nationality.
How long can I stay on a Vietnam e-visa?
Up to 90 days, on either a single-entry or a multiple-entry e-visa. The start and end dates are fixed when the visa is issued, so the 90 days run from the entry date on your application rather than from the day you land.
How long does a Vietnam e-visa take?
Vietnam's immigration department quotes three working days and often takes five to seven in busy periods. It does not work weekends or public holidays, and the Tet holiday in late January or February stops processing for about a week. Our standard service allows for that; Express and Urgent options are offered when you apply, with the times shown on each visa page.
How much does a Vietnam visa cost?
The Vietnamese government charges US$25 for a single-entry e-visa and US$50 for a multiple-entry one. Our price includes that fee plus our service: checking your photo and passport scan, lodging the application and tracking it. Current prices are on each visa page, in your own currency.
What documents do I need?
A passport valid for at least six months after you arrive, a clear scan or photo of its photo page, and a recent passport-style photo on a white background without glasses. You also tell us your entry date, the airport or border you will arrive at, and your first address in Vietnam.
Should I get a single-entry or multiple-entry e-visa?
Single entry if you will fly in, travel around Vietnam and fly out. Multiple entry if you will leave and come back - a side trip to Angkor Wat or Laos, or a cruise that calls at Vietnamese ports on different days. A single-entry visa is used up the moment you leave, even if days remain on it.
Can I get a visa on arrival in Vietnam?
Only with paperwork arranged in advance. Vietnam's visa on arrival needs an approval letter obtained through an agent before you fly, is issued at international airports only, and means queuing at the visa counter after you land. The e-visa is approved before departure and works at airports, land borders and seaports.
Can I extend my e-visa while I am in Vietnam?
Not as a matter of routine. An e-visa has fixed dates and Vietnam does not accept new e-visa applications from people inside the country. Most travellers who want longer leave Vietnam and apply for a new e-visa from outside. If you already know you want more than 30 days, apply for the full 90 from the start - it costs the same.
Is MyVietnamVisas a government website?
No. MyVietnamVisas is a private visa agency, a trading name of SS Visa and Travel Group Pty Ltd (ABN 65 679 999 243), registered and owned in Australia and IATA TIDS accredited. You can apply for the e-visa yourself at evisa.gov.vn and pay only the government fee. We charge a service fee for checking your application, lodging it and supporting you until the visa arrives.
What if my visa is refused or arrives late?
You get a full refund of everything you paid us - our service fee and the government fee - if your visa is refused, or arrives later than the processing time we quoted. The conditions are set out in our terms.
Is my information secure?
Yes. Documents are uploaded over an encrypted connection, card payments are handled by Stripe and never touch our servers, and your details are never shared or sold. Passport scans are deleted automatically once your visa has been issued.
